Duality and Bill Murray
709:
Me from Myself -f to banish –
Had I Art –
Invincible My Fortress
Unto All Heart –
—
But since Myself – assault Me –
How have I peace
Except by subjugating
Consciousness?
—
And since We’re Mutual Monarch
How this be
Except by Abdication –
Me – of Me – ?
—
Today we read numerous poems that showed a duality in Dickinson’s self, including the above, as well as 793 where the worst disdain she can recieve comes from her own soul. I have nothing deep to say about these things, but has anyone seen the movie What About Bob? Bill Murray tells a joke in it that goes:
—
Roses are Red
Violets are Blue
I’m a schizophrenic
and so am I.
